Ethics Statement – We (Robertet) confirm that this product is under CITES. According to our supplier, “Civets (animals) are raised in captivity mainly in Ethiopia. Animals secrete at the level of these perineal glands a paste that is collected every week (a few grams at a time), without giving them pain, with the help of a spoon. It should be noted that even in the wild, civets must periodically release its glandular secretion: to do this, it rubs against stones and tree trunks”.

I am not a fan of funky odors. But, I am returning to report that, after reading dozens of books, and literally hundreds of experiments I can finally appreciate the effects this material offers, and believe it is an indispensable material in the perfume industry! In trace amounts (.01%-.1%) you get unsurpassed lift , and at higher concentrations you get the fixative values only the use of animal fats can offer. But a word of caution, this material also has the ability to overpower a formulation and cause you to ruin an entire batch with very little effort.
