This is an incredible product! It’s everything you want from sandalwood, but without the sightly sour note that some sandalwood oils have. I have tried other santalol extracts from other perfume supply companies and they don’t compare to this product. This is by far the best santalol I have ever gotten. This is in my top 5 favorite ingredients of all time. It’s an absolute must for any perfumers collection, and a very reasonable price. 5/5 stars. Thank you for offering this!

With the options for any singular Sandalwood having an echo of sandalwood s we could work with 10 years Perfumers are having to really hunt to find Sandalwood treasure. Now it’s almost essential to make sandalwood accords to fit the need of each perfume instead of having easily one workhorse.
The closest to an all purpose, sandalwood I have found easy access, that does not need to be aged for a few years (if it’s not out) has been this Santal x …
It is clean, smooth the slight woody musk that comes with a nice Australian, without without any weird off notes that smell like adulterated woods, unclean distillation equipment or creosol.
I’m hoping that Christine will carry the Sandalwood from Quintus. I recommend the affordable Indian Sandalwood here-again that needs to be aged, and it and the Santal X may be registering a bit thin to the noses who have been working predominantly with synthetic Sandalwoods.
If I could afford it, I would be buying buckets of the Santal X… materials that just get better with age.

Clean, creamy like Indian Sandalwood. Really nice oil. This isolate is deep, sweet, & woody. Very valuable and multiple uses-worth the buy, for sure. I have become more interested in Sandalwood in general. According to research, it takes about 25 years for high grade sandalwood to reach it’s high content of alpha and beta santalol and oil quality. And as we know, it improves with age. I wish they would let some sandalwood trees age longer, for better oil quality–it’s such a privilege to smell oil like this; and to be able to make perfume with aged sandalwood. Wow! Understandable why it’s so expensive. Oh, Thanks Christine for the sample, Cedrol Crystals. Cedrol Crystals comes in powder form, low odor, but very tenacious, woody, sandalwood characteristics, cedar. This is a must try and next to purchase on your list, don’t already have. So many uses including enhances woody facets in fine fragrance. Good team player.

I wanted to update some information about Cedrol crystals. To my knowledge (I just learned), CC can come in at least 3 forms. Crystals/chunks, powder (the one PSH house complimentary samples and is fantastic), and a lower grade which is near liquid with crystallization with very faint odor. I received an order today (from a well established company that many of you have probably shopped at) and in my order were Cedrol crystal, in the crystal form. Boy, I was hugely disappointed in the odor quality compared to the powder form that PSH offered me. I won’t throw it away, but I could never use it knowing what the powder odor quality is like. It’s generally an inexpensive material (the crystal cedrol was anyway). Get the powder, if possible.

I should have bought more than 1×25! All the previous reviews may still understate this. And I know I can’t do it justice. Is it milky? Not sure. Is it sweet? Maybe, but not really. What is it then? Smooooooothe. OMG, so so so smooth. And deep. And kinda woody. But not necessarily woody. It’s just magically smooth and deep. Some reviewer wrote “buy buckets if I could!” Agree completely.

Just opening the bottle I smelled the most beautiful sandalwood smell on earth, there is no base or aromachemical that compares to it, it is not even comparable to essential oil, this material is the key for any sandalwood addict, it seems to me that it is price It is justifiable due to the beauty of this material, THIS SANTALOL IS BEAUTIFUL, IT IS A DELIGHT TO THE SMELL
PS: I mixed it with a little Bulgarian rose Otto and it is sublime.

I first could not smell Santalol, but after including it in an accord, and also by rubbing a tiny drop on my skin, it’s fragrance became very noticeable and extremely satisfying. It is woody, creamy, lasting, complex and my favorite!
