MSDS Tomato Leaf Absolute

CAS#90131-63-8

Odor -Intensely green, fresh, outdoorsy note with an earthy, spicy sweetness. Very similar to Geranium making it an excellent addition to any floral fragrance.   Blends well with Citrus, Moss and Herbaceous notes.

According to boisdejasmine.com, Tomato Leaf Absolute “one of the most remarkable notes in perfumery, in my opinion, due to its unexpectedness and its complete lack of gender reference.”

Deep, beautiful green note. The scent of “nature.” Would be great in any fragrance requiring a natural green note or as a contrasting green note to set off florals or woods. Couldn’t imagine this would disappoint anyone.

One of the most interesting ingredients I have smelled thus far. I have tried for several weeks now to recreate this natural entirely with synthetics (using GSMS results) and nothing I do comes even close. This absolute is waxy, spicy, grassy, peppery’ purely fresh and green. It stands out on its own in a finished fragrance, but, even though the ingredient is loud, it overpowers nothing and compliments everything. This will be part of my pallet forever.

This is one of the most excellent ingredients I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I couldn’t agree more with the previous reviewers on all points made. It is extremely green, natural, and outdoorsy smelling, but retains an elegance and refinement that work so well in many blends — could seriously stand on its own it’s just so darn pleasant. I love this with neroli and petitgrain, but it seems it complements anything I add it to really. Can’t wait to try this with more florals and woods. Will definitely be part of my pallet as well, this just seems to have endless applications.

Magic in a bottle. What everyone else said. The only thing I can really add is that it has a great warmth, especially as it dries out, and some strongly floral aspects, particularly in a lily of the valley direction. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn there are pyrazine-like chemicals contributing to the effect, it would explain the strength and there’s definitely a green pepper aspect that’s both spicy and waxy and a little metallic. Brilliant and complex.

I can’t say anything the others haven’t stated. Lovely on its own, also pairs well with florals imo. It’s intensely green and reminds me of spring.

In my opinion, a very green, cis3/violet leaf at 100%. Absolutely stunning, deep and rich. Instead of the brashness of cis-3 it has a real calm to it, herbal / basil.
I can see many application for this one and will work as a very good modifier.

Beautiful colour and viscosity! Rich and green to the average nose, furry (like the stems) and spicy and very nuanced beneath. Blends beautifully with many elements. It’s easy to push it to the green, woody side or the spicy, aromatic or incense side depending what you choose.

I find tomato leaf to be one of the most literal notes you can find in the natural world. It is a fierce note that appears in blends long after other notes have faded. A sharp scent that blends beautifully with so many others… citruses, spices, woods, and even florals! This gives an interesting edge to your basic compositions. As always, Christine offers amazing oils at an affordable price for the most adventurous of perfumers. Very grateful to have stumbled across this one!
