This is a classic rendition of Ambre 83 Base by DeLaire.

It is also essential for the classical chypre and fougère compositions, where it is combined with such ingredients as musk and oakmoss.

Delicate sweet resins. Warm wood. I feel sweet myrrh as basic. Some mushrooms at the start. It gave me peace, it relaxes me perfectly. On my skin it smells more brutal than on paper. Long pleasant smell. Requires a strong enough dilution. Based on the appearance made on natural substances.

A creamy combination of labdanum, benzoin, balsam, vanillin and nitro musks. Not Ambergris “amber”, but a warm, resinous incensey amber. Amazing!

Super nice base! Very thick consistency, you’ll want to heat it up before use to liquify it a bit. Sultry, warm, dark, resinous, very black noir smelling. Based on labdanum, with a touch of vanilla, yet has this slight licorice background effect. I can see why this base is famous back in the day.

Warm; musky; buttery: this is a spectacular amber base! Maybe I’m crazy, but I’ve toured the bourbon distilleries here in Kentucky, and this amber reminds me of what we call white dog mash. It’s the corn mash that is then aged in white oak to create bourbon. But in its raw form, white dog has a semi-sweet, buttery, delicious aroma. This amber reminds me strongly of that.
From a practical standpoint, I’ve cut it to 50% in DPG. This helps thin it out a bit as well as with more accurate dosing. It’s long-lasting, and it’s stronger on my skin than on paper.
