Arctander states: A classic fixative-blender and solvent in perfumes. Also a modifier in heavier florals, Oriental type fragrances, etc., Tuberose, Yiang- Ylang, Lily, Gardenia, etc. Largely substituted by Benzyl salicylate when a faint odor is desirable.
