I’m giving this five stars because it performs powerfully and has a well-rounded scent, not because I find it pleasant. This has a powerful animalic stink that I personally don’t find sexy or easy to work with. Leather Oud is also pretty stinky but unlike Samrat, once it is diluted and mixed into a blend, it leans towards the pleasant, cowboy leather aspect of “barnyard.” I will say this is worth doing some experiments with, and if you’re looking for funk it’s worth trying. But it’s certainly not a clean appealing barnyard like the one real agarwood example I’ve been able to get my hands on.

I think this one is very reminiscent of either Norlimanol or Amber Xtreme (can’t quite place it) and an undefined animalic musk. It is powerful and long lasting. It’s a good oud note but lacks something ‘resinous’ and ‘smoothness’ found in genuine oud. I actually prefer Firmenich ‘s Oud 10760 E to this but hey that’s just opinion.

Powerful, long lasting. Has a nice round, musky, powdery side to it that helps balance the more anamalic side. But beware, that side is a beast. Pairing this with softer materials might help. I find the top note of this has a bit of stink to it, but it tends to settle later in the dry down. I’d suggest finding bright top notes to mask some of the anamalic opening. But fascinating material.
Nas –
I get a strong smell of Cashmeran, with a hint of Oud Maleki (firmenich) but smoother and musks. Overall a smooth “oud“. I haven’t diluted it yet or tried in in a formulation.
