What got me hooked to perfumery is once walking by a man from whom wafted a fragrance akin to the breath of the ocean.
It took me years to discover that it was Versace Pour Homme (I was too shy to ask him what it was, prolly would have been easier)
Cascalone has been the magical ingredient that has taken me the closest to the base of VPH. I tried the same formula with Calone many times, but the results aren’t quite the same. In my experiments I have realised that the promised sophisticated evocations from this gem arise when it is below 2% in the formulae. be sure to combine it with equally substantive base notes and it sings beautifully in harmony.
Stinky Stuff –
This is a great update to the classic “calone”. It still has the staple “wet/watery” theme, but they dialed back the melon vibe quite a bit so it doesnt seem too similar to “melanol” anymore. They seemed to have dialed that aspect back, but then allowed to dial in a slight white/clean floral tone with sweet red-berry nuances. Just imaging taking the classic calone, and almost taking away the melon note and replacing it with a slight jasmine-like shade with subtle hints of sweet berries. But over all its very transparent and wet vibes. I like this a lot.

Next Escentric Molecule 06? – Well, indeed Cascalone is to me more complex and pleasing on its own. Mainly because the original ‘cool’ aquatic-melon aspect of Calone now has been transformed into something warmer, sweeter and more floral. Still aquatic and still some melon left – but less prominent and edgy.
Most fascinating and surprising for me is the new floral dimension. To my nose the emphasis is definetely on cyclamen. In this regard, the floral part could be described as a mix of cyclamen aldehyde and floralozon.
The overall impression is quite attractive. Cascalone reminds me with its sweet and fruity floral notes of Kenzo pour Homme. Probably the next Molecule 06 as an updated hommage to the 90’s?

Much nicer than calone. Unique. Strong. Fresh. Masculine. Smells like perfume. Recommend.
