I just had to get my hands on this rare Indian sandalwood. It is indeed sweet, creamy, and woody. I can imagine that it will only get better with age. Christine did it again with another winner. I recommend you try it out to experience to smell what real sandalwood smells like.

This is one of the weakest Sandalwood oils I have experienced but at this price that’s fair. The aroma does not last more than a couple of minutes outside of the bottle. I can only assume very low santalols and GC/MS report could not be produced by seller.

A tremendous buy. Generally speaking sandalwood today is from young trees while vintage was from very mature trees. I can’t speak to the age of these trees, but all the very many other sandalwoods I’ve bought at up to and including double the price have had to my nose substantial off notes that bothered me. This has no such thing: very smooth, beautiful. Very recommended. You cannot do better for twice the money.

I was revisiting this oil to order and sampling it immediately the first impression that came to my mind is that it shared the odor of some mid 1960’s imported pure sandalwood incense I have. I would buy a great amount of this oil is if I could afford it. With time it will age I’m sure beautifully. Right off the bat it echoed with authenticity and left what most other varieties though more grown or harvested friendly as possible such as Hawaiian,New Caledonia, Vanuatu and such they are smoky, oily or slightly vegetative- causing off notes.
Yes this one is kind of thin but I think with age it will develop at bit and it does have the true sandalwood much desired note.

I think some have gotten used to spiculatums projection and loud voice in modern times. Indian sandalwood, to me, has always had a soft, deep and intimate scent profile, whispering “come closer”. I like this oil because of this. I expect it to age magnifiscently. At this price, at this time…no brainer!!

I use Mysore in a lot of my work, and it is by far the biggest portion of my budget. Finding half-decent S. album oil is a challenge, particularly for a reasonable price. Until now, I’ve been loyal to two sources – one, for a stellar high quality aged, rich, mature oil (over 10 years old), that costs me over $300 per ounce, and another, for a young-but-smooth, high santalol oil that I’ve used as my workhorse oil, and one for aging, which costs me $140/oz.

I didn’t have high hopes for this one here, expecting it to be super green and terpy, and basically unusable without being laid to rest for a while. I was quite surprised when I sampled this, to see that not only is it not inferior to my $140/oz young oil, but actually has some bolder presence, and is no more green or terpy, and even has a bit more of that underlying Mysore creaminess I’ve come to expect from a more mature oil.

Yes, it’s a young oil, and it isn’t going to be on-par with an oil from the ’70s, or a boutique distillation fetching wild oud prices… But for the money, I’m convinced this may be the best deal for Indian S. album oil on the market. Perfectly usable as-is, and is likely a top contender for an oil that will mature into something brilliant, if stored away for a while.

I’ll likely be switching from my previous source of young Mysore, to this one, as it delivers everything that one does, at a lower price point. Very glad to have found this one, and will definitely put some away to age, and see how it’s doing after a few years and some curing.

I bet this’ll be a great option for those who are into attar/sandal macerations. For the price, I’ll give this 5 stars.
