It’s a Gardenia AND a Mushroom – check out cis-3-Hexenyl Tiglate!

Cis-3-Hexenyl Tiglate is a strange one alright, and it’s profile is based largely on what dilution you use.  At very low concentration (0.5%-1%) it can be used to give depth to a rich floral (gardenia).

At higher levels it becomes vegetative and earthly, almost fungal like a mushroom.  What business does mushroom have in a fragrance ?

Plenty!

For those perfumers who lean toward the nature-based scents (like Demeter, Simple Green, Seventh Gen), a tiglate will contribute a note of earthy authenticity or “naturalness”.  Tiglates can also be used as a Fougere modifier.
