Hi Alex, some people cannot smell musk compounds (I am one). To me this is odorless too but people find it extremely useful in their compositions. This thread may help explain it. https://basenotes.com/threads/civettone-firmenich.528509/

This is a truly incredible musk. For those who have trouble smelling musks straight from the bottle (which is pretty much everyone with some musks), try wadding up a paper towel and putting some of the musk on it (you’d need to make a solution in this case bc it’s a solid). Leave it in a small room or closet for half an hour, then come back. Alternately, mix it with alcohol and spray it in the air, then leave and come back 5-10 minutes later. Some people are genuinely anosmic but it’s always impossible to evaluate the effects of musks when smelling them up close; white musks fill space and enhance diffusion, they don’t provide impact or much in the way of character, generally.
