IFRA SAXONY THYME BASE

Odor Description:  This complex natural and synthetic base has a dark, sweet, mossy and woody aroma that is also powdery, with green, freshness and a musk and leather/animalic  background. The “cutting” freshness is due to the quinolines (bitter green leathery with a hint of styrax).

This is a ‘perfume’ unto itself. Remember: ‘Bal A Versallies’, well, to my ‘nose’ this is pretty darn close. Add just a few drops to any floral composition; especially those with a leading Aura of: Rose, Neroli, or Jasmin, and you will have a very sophisticated and classic finished product. This notes of this base seem incredibily balanced in their parts. My olfactory impression is: leading top notes of: Bergamont, Thyme and some Rosemary, then heart notes of: Jasmin, Rose, Carnation and slight Muguet or Lyral, then base notes of: Sandalwood, Labdanum, ‘old school’ Deer Musk, and Orris.

I wasn’t going to get this, then the oh what the heck! moment happened another am so glad it did.
This is sophisticated and complex, multi layers w/o losing the thread. High is green gourmand thyme that has a rounded sweet edge. Mid notes have a low smokiness that fades. The lowest notes are a touch of vanilla powder.
Describing the aromas does not do this justice, this is a living aroma, a new smell. The real power is it seems very stable. Very nice!
